Netflix has acquired the rights for most of the world for Joe Penna’s upcoming sci-fi thriller “Stowaway”. The film, which is set to premier in 2021, stars Academy Award nominee Anna Kendrick (“A Simple Favor”), Academy Award nominee Toni Collette (“Velvet Buzzsaw”), Daniel Dae Kim (“Hawaii Five-O”), and Shamier Anderson (“Race”).
The film was shot entirely in Germany and the story is set on a mission headed to Mars where unintended stowaway (Anderson) accidentally causes severe damage to the spaceship’s life support systems. Facing dwindling resources and a potentially grim outcome, a medical researcher (Kendrick) emerges as the only dissenting voice against the clinical logic of both her commander (Collette) and the ship’s biologist (Kim).
Netflix will release the film in the US, UK, Australia/New Zealand, India, Latin America, Africa, and select other countries in Asia and Europe. Expect a trailer in the coming weeks.
