Netflix and Shondaland have announced a “Bridgerton” spinoff that will delve into the origins of Queen Charlotte. While the limited series will focus on the rise and love life of a young Queen Charlotte, it will also tell the stories of young Violet Bridgerton and Lady Danbury. Shonda Rhimes will write the series and serve as executive producer alongside Betsy Beers and Tom Verica and an official title will be announced later.
The popular series is currently in production for season 2 which will focus on Anthony Bridgerton’s quest for love.
The series comes from Shondaland and is based on Julia Quinn’s best-selling series of novels that take a smart feminist take on Regency England romance that unveil the glittering, wealthy, sexual, painful, funny and sometimes lonely lives of the women and men in London’s high society marriage mart as told through the eyes of the powerful Bridgerton family. The series is described as “a romantic, scandalous, and quick-witted series that celebrates the timelessness of enduring friendships, families finding their way, and the search for a love that conquers all.”
