Netflix at The Oscars 2019: “Roma” and “Period. End of Sentence” Win Awards

Alfonso Cuarón’s Netflix film “Roma” has won 3 of its 10 nominations for this year’s Oscars. The black and white film tells the story of life in Mexico during the 1970s and won the following awards:

  • Best Director (Alfonso Cuarón)
  • Best Foreign Language Film
  • Cinematography

The recent documentary about the issues faced in India around menstruation, “Period. End of Sentence” also picked up the award for Best Documentary Short.

The Coen Brothers’ “The Ballad of Buster Scruggs”  failed to win any of its 3 nominations.
