Netflix at The Oscars 2019: “Roma” and “The Ballad of Buster Scruggs” Nominated for Awards

Alfonso Cuarón’s Netflix film “Roma” has picked up 10 nominations for this year’s Oscars made up of: Best Picture, Lead Actress (Yalitza Aparicio), Supporting Actress (Marina de Tavira), Director (Alfonso Cuarón), Original Screenplay, Cinematography, Best Foreign Language Film, Sound Editing, Sound Mixing, and Production Design. The black and white film tells the story of life in Mexico during the 1970s.

The Coen Brothers’ “The Ballad of Buster Scruggs” also got 3 nominations for Adapted Screenplay, Original Song (“When A Cowboy Trades His Spurs For Wings”), and Costume Design (Mary Zophres).
