We already know that Netflix’s hit comic book series “The Umbrella Academy” has been renewed for a second season and Netflix has now started teasing the show’s return with a cryptic ‘WHEN ARE THEY?” message on Twitter as well as some character artwork. Season 2 will see three new cast members: Yusuf Gatewood (“The Originals”, “Good Omens”) as Raymond, a charismatic born leader; Marin Ireland (“Hell or High Water”, “Sneaky Pete” as Sissy, a fearless Texan who married young for all the wrong reasons; and Ritu Arya (“Doctors”, “Humans”) as Lila, a chameleon who can be as brilliant or as insane as the situation requires. The series is based on the Dark Horse comic created by former My Chemical Romance front-man Gerard Way and the 10-episode first season premiered back in February 2019. The show also stars Tom Hopper, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aiden Gallagher and Ellen Page, among others. Season 2 began production last summer and you should expect a trailer and release date in the coming weeks.

On the same day in 1989, forty-three infants are inexplicably born to random, unconnected women who showed no signs of pregnancy the day before. Seven are adopted by Sir Reginald Hargreeves, a billionaire industrialist, who creates The Umbrella Academy and prepares his “children” to save the world. But not everything went according to plan. In their teenage years, the family fractured and the team disbanded. Now, the six surviving thirty-something members reunite upon the news of Hargreeve’s passing. Luther, Diego, Allison, Klaus, Vanya and Number Five work together to solve a mystery surrounding their father’s death. But the estranged family once again begins to come apart due to their divergent personalities and abilities, not to mention the imminent threat of a global apocalypse.
