Netflix Cancels Sense8

Another Netflix Original has been cancelled following on from “Marco Polo”, “Bloodline”, “The Get Down” with “Sense8” now receiving it’s marching orders after just 2 seasons. While this may come as a bit of a shock for some, for others it could be a blessing in disguise. No one likes to have a friend hang around too long after the party and it’s the same with TV shows too. Without definitive endings, some TV series just lose the plot and wither away into obscurity. At least “Sense8” can end on a high note.

Reed hastings, CEO, said recently:

“Our hit ratio is way too high right now,” Hastings said. “So, we’ve canceled very few shows … I’m always pushing the content team: We have to take more risk; you have to try more crazy things. Because we should have a higher cancel rate overall.”

  1. How on earth is it leaving on a “high note” if it ended on a massive cliffhanger? Please with the justifications. This just teaches creators and executives that representation doesn’t matter.

    1. I meant in the sense that it hasn’t dwindled into obscurity. It’s a seemingly popular series and not one that people have started hating because it gradually got worse and worse. I.e. it’s currently at a ‘high note’.

  2. No surprise. The 1st series was far superior to the 2nd. All they did in the 2nd series was throw in a lot of sex scenes to try and attract viewers. The 2nd series was a real bore and I stopped watching it after episode 4.

  3. That is lame. This may have had a very high production cost, but it was some of the most open-minded and emotionally evocative story-telling “television” around right now. I am a straight, White, male, and I was drawn into the lives and struggles of every single one of the characters.

  4. I enjoyed the first season, but the Christmas ‘special’ bored me so much I haven’t started watching season two yet. Now that it’s been cancelled, and after reading Richard Bijster’s earlier comment, I may not bother.

  5. What! I was looking forward to the next one, wanted so much for Wolfgang to get together with the Indian lady. I THINK that their ought to be another one and use it to end the program, oh how I hate to watch things and then it gets taken off.
