We already know that Kurt Russell will return as Santa Clause in the sequel to Netflix’s smash hit festive film “The Christmas Chronicles” and Netflix has now confirmed a Christmas 2020 release date. Home Alone director Chris Columbus will return to direct the sequel. The Original film, which had 20 million views in it’s first week of release, was produced by Chris Columbus’s 1492 Pictures but this time the man himself will direct.
The synopsis for the sequel is that Kate Pierce, now a cynical teen, is unexpectedly reunited with Santa Claus when a mysterious troublemaker threatens to cancel Christmas… forever.
The first film tells the story of sister and brother, Kate (Darby Camp) and Teddy Pierce (Judah Lewis), whose Christmas Eve plan to catch Santa Claus (Kurt Russell) on camera turns into an unexpected journey that most kids could only dream about. After staking out Santa’s arrival, they sneak into his sleigh, cause it to crash and nearly derail Christmas. As their wild night unfolds, Kate and Teddy work together with Santa – as you’ve never seen him before – and his loyal Elves to save Christmas before it’s too late.
