Netflix Has Cancelled the “Santa Clarita Diet” After 3 Seasons

Less than a month after the launch of its third season, Netflix has cancelled “Santa Clarita Diet”. The show, starring Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant, was the first ‘zom-com’ in history and followed husband and wife realtors Joel (Olyphant) and Sheila (Barrymore) who live in the L.A. suburb of Santa Clarita with their teenaged daughter Abby, until Sheila goes through a dramatic change sending their lives down a road of death and destruction…but in a good way.

The world had never known a ‘zom-com’ until Santa Clarita Diet, and we’re indebted to creator Victor Fresco for bringing this idea to Netflix. To their endless credit, the incredible Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant were totally game, with an uncanny knack for comedy that brought Sheila and Joel Hammond to vibrant life, even though one of them was undead. We’re grateful to Victor, Drew, and Timothy, along with fellow executive producers Tracy Katsky, Aaron Kaplan, Chris Miller and Ember Truesdell and the terrific cast, including Liv Hewson and Skyler Gisondo, and crew for three hilarious seasons for Netflix members to discover for years to come.

  1. Netflix getting crap now, taking off good shows and series and adding pure crap plus when Disney take over and they lose all the marvel films and series what are we going to get in place? They putting the price up but removing the best things it’s ridiculous

  2. They seem to take on a series and drop it when there is so much more for future seasons. After OITNB and stranger things is done I’m cancelling my subscription

Whats the point in starting a great show that they won’t “finish”

  3. This is why I’m starting to hate Netflix. They keep getting rid of old shows and movies (the whole reason we all signed up for Netflix in the first place), so they can do original content. They put out a bunch of crap, and when they finally make something good, they cancel it. You guys suck.

  4. I couldn’t get into it. But don’t upset the fans by just cancelling it. Give it an ending. It’s not right to do a show without an acceptable and/or good ending even if it is unpopular.

I’m still pissed off with the terminator Sarah Connor chronicle how they left it on a cliff hang and fox just decided to cancel it. Remember, just because a show doesnt meet the target audience doesnt mean it should end without an real finale ending. There fans that may enjoy it.

  5. Blame marketing. No one new the new season started. I didn’t see any advertisements nor did I get a notification the new season was out. My older kids and I really like the show. Such a bummer
