Netflix Has Renewed The Witcher for Season 3 and Shared Some First Looks of Season 2

“The Witcher” was a massive hit for Netflix when it launched in December 2019 with over 76 million households choosing to watch the show in its first month and it was already renewed for a second season before the first season launched. We now know that season 2 will arrive on the small screen on December 17th and that Netflix has renewed it for a 3rd season.

New Season 2 cast and characters include: Paul Bullion as Lambert, Thue Ersted Rasmussen as Eskel, Kristofer Hivju as Nivellen and Kim Bodnia as Vesemir. Returning cast includes: MyAnna Buring as Tissaia, a powerful sorceress and Yennefer’s mentor; Mimi Ndiweni as Fringilla, the Nilfgaardian sorceress led the assault at the Battle of Sodden Hill; Joey Batey back as the bard himself, Jaskier, sporting what looks like a new ‘do’; Yennefer of Vengeberg, played by Anya Chalotra; and of course Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia.

Convinced Yennefer’s life was lost at the Battle of Sodden, Geralt of Rivia brings Princess Cirilla to the safest place he knows, his childhood home of Kaer Morhen. While the Continent’s kings, elves, humans and demons strive for supremacy outside its walls, he must protect the girl from something far more dangerous: the mysterious power she possesses inside.

During yesterday’s TUDUM event, a number of first look videos were released as well as a short ‘road to season 2’ trailer which you can see below:
