Update February 2020: This now seems to be the case for new subscribers in Australia too.
Netflix has removed one of it’s long time offers, a 30-day free trial, for new subscribers in the UK. Where previously during sign up you would be told “You won’t be charged until after your free month” and “We’ll remind you three days before your trial ends” new users are now told there are “No commitments, cancel at any time” and “Everything on Netflix for one low price”. There is no longer any mention of the free trial on the Netflix UK website.
Netflix have said that “customers who have already started free trials would be able to continue them” and added that “no UK customers would be offered free trials in the future”. They have also said that they will “be testing other marketing promotions” but have not given any further details. We suspect, however, that this could mean monthly discounts for customers who stay with the service for a few months. It will be interesting to see how this turns out and if it gets rolled out across other countries.

Netflix beginning to push their luck a bit one feels.
That will be to stop people subscribing with a new email every month
If you sign up at the beginning of any month , and pay only at the end of that same month , then it is like getting a 30 day free trail….
I guess your right, the service widely known now, that model might be hurting them.
I have feeling soon they may stop people sharing the account
good business sense. the company isn’t a start up anymore nor is it a company looking to be known.
