Malaysian newspaper The Star have reported that Netflix is testing a new mobile-only subscription at less than half the price of a standard Netflix subscription. The new subscription is in response to many users in Asian and East Asian countries using mobile devices for a lot of their media consumption so it makes sense to target these users. The Mobile-only plan costs RM17 (£3.18) versus the standard RM42 (£7.87). The only slight catch is that it does not include HD streaming although that may not be an issue on a smaller screen anyway.
Given the option, would you give a mobile-only subscription a try or do you prefer the large screen of your home TV?
I think it is a good thing to give the option, although I will never understand how can people enjoy a film in such a small screen.
