Netflix May Be Working on a Live-Action Pokémon Series

We don’t usually do rumours at New on Netflix but there is a strong chance, according to The Hollywood Reporter, that Netflix is planning a live-action Pokémon series with Lucifer’s Joe Henderson set to be showrunner. It is, by all accounts, very early days with no synopsis or cast announced so it may be some time before we see any official confirmation.

Netflix has previously teamed up with The Pokémon Group by being the exclusive home for premieres of new seasons in the USA. This deal started with season 23, “Pokémon Journeys: The Series“, which had 12 new episodes added to Netflix in the USA every few months from June 2020 and then all 48 episodes were made available globally in July 2021.

The image above is taken from 2019 film “Detective Pikachu” starring Ryan Reynolds but the Netflix project is said to be completely original. We just liked the look of the fuzzy little electrocutor!
