Canadian Sci-Fi film “Code 8” is getting a sequel and Netflix have just announced that they have acquired the global rights. The film, first released in 2019, is available globally on Netflix (excluding Canada) and is set in a world where 4% of people have a supernatural ability – however, these are outlawed. The first film follows an earnest day laborer decides to use his outlawed abilities for money to save his sick mother. The film stars Robbie Amell (“Upload”) and Stephen Amell (“Arrow”) who will also reprise their roles for the sequel “Code 8: Part II”. Director Jeff Chan will return and filming will begin in Canada later this year.
The synopsis for the sequel is as follows:
After witnessing the murder of her brother and subsequent cover up, a teenage girl with abnormal abilities seeks the help of an ex-con (Robbie Amell) and his former partner-in-crime (Stephen Amell). Together, they face a unit of corrupt police officers who deploy advanced robotic technology to prevent themselves from being exposed.
