Netflix has signed a first look deal with Dark Horse Entertainment for both TV and film based on the comic creator’s intellectual property. The two have previously collaborated on the action-comedy series “The Umbrella Academy” as well as Jonas Åkerlund’s feature film “Polar” and the streaming giant has already started exploring future projects.
With The Umbrella Academy and Polar, Netflix has pushed our content out into the world and allowed it to spread in a way that we’ve never experienced before, and we couldn’t be more excited to bring a whole new slate of movies and shows to their world-wide audience
– Keith Goldberg, Senior Vice President, Dark Horse Entertainment
Following the success of The Umbrella Academy, we’re excited to extend our relationship with Dark Horse Comics. The Netflix teams are already working in deep collaboration with Dark Horse to identify projects beyond the world of traditional superheroes – branching into horror, fantasy and family entertainment – that we think our members will love.
– Cindy Holland, Vice President, Original Content for Netflix
I’ve enjoyed both Polar and The Umbrella Academy, so this should be an interesting pairing between these two companies.
Really enjoyed Polar, hope they do the sequel and Umbrella Academy was brilliant too
I know they do a Conan comic series, would love to see them adapt that
Now if they could just do a deal that gives us a Sandman series that would be great. Thanks.
SANDMAN. That is all
