Netflix has received 112 Emmy Award nominations for their Original programming making them the new rulers of television. For the last 17 years HBO have ruled the roost with the most nominations but now Netflix have taken over that mantle and even beaten HBO’s previous record of 108 nominations. In 2013 “House of Cards” launched and, five years on, Netflix have pumped crazy amounts of cash into their programming with hit shows such as “The Crown” (13 nominations this year) and “Stranger Things” (12 nominations this year) proving that it was worth it.
Other nominations include “GLOW”, “Ozark”, “Queer Eye”, “Black Mirror”, and “Grace and Frankie”. Ted Sarandos, Chief Content Officer at Netflix, said “We congratulate our creative partners on their unprecedented success today. We are particularly enthused to see the breadth of our programming celebrated with nominations spread across 40 new and returning titles.”
