Nightflyers, by Game of Thrones Author, Officially Heading to Netflix (via SyFy)

While “Game of Thrones” won’t ever come to Netflix, another of George R. R. Martin’s works is officially on it’s way. SyFy created a pilot for the series, based on his 1980 novella “Nightflyers”, a supernatural, sci-fi thriller (which was made into a movie in 1987) and Variety are now reporting that SyFy have ordered the full series with Netflix co-producing. Similar to the deal with “Star Trek: Discovery”, Netflix will have first streaming rights outside of America and it is possible that it will be shown weekly on Netflix – although this has yet to be confirmed.

The Nightflyer is a ship with a small crew on the outer reaches of the solar system – it’s mission is to contact alien life.

Confirmed cast includes:

  • Gretchen Mol as Dr. Agatha Matheson
  • Eoin Macken as Karl D’Branin
  • David Ajala as Roy Eris
  • Sam Strike as Thale
  • Maya Eshet as Lommie
  • Angus Sampson as Rowan
  • Jodie Turner-Smith as Melantha Jhirl
  • Brían F. O’Byrne as Auggie
