Netflix is continuing its rule as the streaming home of true crime with another new series launching later this month. The new docuseries “The Puppet Master: Hunting The Ultimate Conman” arrives on January 18th and is from the team behind “The Ripper” and “Don’t F*ck with Cats”. The docuseries is about the international pursuit of one of the world’s most audacious con artists, Robert Hendy-Freegard, who in the early 1990s claimed to be an undercover MI5 agent and tricked numerous people into handing him over £1m ($1.4m) over the course of two decades.
The 3-episode series looks at the conman’s history and his subsequent conviction in 2005. But then it moves to the present day where desperate family members fear for their mother’s safety…
A jaw-dropping story of one of the world’s most audacious conmen, Robert Hendy-Freegard. This chilling series explores the story of Robert Freegard, who, over the course of two decades, controlled, conned and fleeced at least seven women and one man out of almost one million pounds, with his devious charm.
