“Terrace House: Tokyo” Cancelled After Death of Cast Member Hana Kimura

The current season of the Japanese reality TV show “Terrace House: Tokyo” has been cancelled after the death of contestant Hana Kimura – a 22 year old Japanese pro-wrestler – on May 23rd. Parts 1-3 are currently available on Netflix globally with the current part only available in Japan. Kimura joined the show in September 2019 and in March this year it was put on hold due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Leading up to her death she had been subject to abuse on her social media accounts after an altercation with another contestant in an episode that has only aired in Japan so far. Local media are reporting that she took her own life due to the cyber-bullying although no official cause of death has been announced.

The current 2019-2020 season of the show has now been cancelled and it is unknown whether the show will be cancelled completely. It is also unknown whether Part 4 will be added globally to Netflix although it is still available in Japan.
