The Best New Additions on Netflix in America This Week (16th July 2021)

Here we will give you our top picks as well as a full list of everything added to the streaming service in the last week. So here are our top picks from this week’s additions on Netflix USA:

For films this week we have Gunpowder Milkshake which sees an assassin veer off mission to rescue a child, which triggers a war with a powerful crime syndicate — and reunites a gun-wielding sisterhood. Day of Destiny sees two teen brothers seize an opportunity to reverse their bad fortunes by traveling 20 years back in time. In the 3rd and final part of the horror trilogy Fear Street Part 3: 1666 Deena is thrust back to 1666 where she learns the truth about Sarah Fier, whilst back in 1994, the friends fight for their lives – and Shadyside’s future. In 2 Weeks in Lagos a businessman returns home to Nigeria and falls in love with a friend’s sister despite his family’s plan for him to marry a politician’s daughter. Finally for this week we have the Italian suspense A Classic Horror Story which sees strangers traveling in southern Italy become stranded in the woods, where they must fight desperately to get out alive.

This week has seen the complete series of Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight saga added to Netflix for the first time in America. The films follow the lives of Bella Swan, Edward Cullen, and Jacob Black who are not who they seem to be. Based on the books of the same name the watch order is TwilightThe Twilight Saga: New MoonThe Twilight Saga: EclipseThe Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn: Part 1, and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn: Part 2.

For TV on Netflix USA we have the anime BEASTARS which is set in a world of anthropomorphic animals, and sees a reclusive wolf’s complicated relationship with a kindly rabbit tested by a classmate’s murder, a charismatic deer’s influence, and his own burgeoning predatory instincts. The reality series My Unorthodox Life follows the personal and professional life of fashion mogul Julia Haart – former member of an ultra-Orthodox Jewish community turned CEO of Elite World Group. Her Private Life sees an art curator’s life unravel, as she tries to keep her pastime as a die-hard K-pop fan secret from her gallery’s new director. Also added was Never Have I Ever season 2.

For documentaries this week we have Explained a weekly series that digs into a wide range of topics such as the rise of cryptocurrency, why diets fail, and the wild world of K-pop. Heist looks at how ordinary people almost get away with extraordinary heists. Naomi Osaka is an intimate series which follows Naomi Osaka as she explores her cultural roots and navigates her multifaceted identity as a tennis champ and rising leader. The Tour sees Miloš Knor take comedians Lukáš Pavlásek, Tomáš Matonoha, Ester Kočičková, Michal Kavalčík and Richard Nedvěd on a tour around the Czech Republic. Private Network: Who Killed Manuel Buendía? takes a deep dive into the work of renowned Mexican journalist Manuel Buendía and looks to unravel his murder and the ties between politics and drug trafficking. Lift Like a Girl  follows a teen weightlifter as she emerges from a scrappy training camp in Egypt to compete at the championship level. Born to Play follows the Boston Renegades — an all-woman, tackle football team — as they risk their time, families and day jobs for the game. Finally for documentaries we have Emicida: AmarElo – Live in São Paulo where Brazilian rapper Emicida performs hits from the album “AmarElo” live at São Paulo’s Theatro Municipal.

For family viewing this week there is Johnny Test tells of the adventures of an average suburban boy Johnny Test, who wittingly plays test subject for his genius twin sisters’ various experiments, reluctantly fighting evil villains in the process. Finally for this week we have Ridley Jones where curious kid Ridley and her friends protect the Museum of Natural History’s treasures and keep its magical secret safe: Everything comes alive at night! Finally we have the film Surf’s Up an animated comedy which goes behind the scenes at the Penguin World Surfing Championship to get a close-up look at the inventors of surfing.
