The Best New Additions on Netflix UK This Week (12th February 2021)

If you want to know what to watch this weekend then we’re here to give you the lowdown on this week’s biggest and best film, TV and documentary additions on Netflix UK. Here we will give you our top picks as well as a full list of everything added to Netflix in the UK in the last week. So here are our top picks from this week’s additions on Netflix UK:

This week’s top film addition is the Paul Greengrass’ western News of the World starring Tom Hanks. The film tells the story of a Civil War veteran who agrees to deliver a girl, taken by the Kiowa people years ago, to her aunt and uncle, against her will. As they travel hundreds of miles they face many dangers while searching for a place that either can call home. Love it or hate it, the 2014 reboot of RoboCop has arrived this week and follows a cop who gets exploded and then kept alive by turning him into a cyborg. Monster Run is a Cantonese sci-fi and fantasy film about Jimo, an outcast who can see monsters, that teams up with a monster hunter to fight evil forces but soon discovers her greater calling. We also have the Swedish Netflix thriller Red Dot where a pregnant couple go camping in the mountains to rekindle their marriage but soon find that they are being stalked by ruthless hunters.

Throughout February there will be over 150 Scandinavian films added to Netflix UK – last week saw the first batch of Swedish films, and this week we have a number of Danish, Swedish and Norwegian films. Here are some of the highlights of this recent drop. First up we have the psychological thriller / horror Next Door where a young man gets invited to his sexy neighbours house he ends up trapped in a bloody nightmare. Romantic drama Stockholm East sees two strangers, whose only connection is a common tragedy, meet at a train station and begin a dangerous journey of passion and lies. Bill Skarsgård stars in Behind Blue Skies, a Swedish crime drama about a young man working a Summer job who ends up doing a few rather illegal side projects for the manager… Sprængfarlig bombe is a dark comedy about a man who sees a terrible film with his kids and sets about to locate the pretentious filmmaker to demand a refund. In Bad Faith a woman decides to moonlight as an amateur detective after stumbling upon a serial killers dying victim. Norwegian drama Cold Lunch follows a number of strangers in Oslo whose lives subtly intertwine as they struggle to overcome frustrating obstacles. And, finally for this week’s batch of Scandinavian films we have the Swedish comedy Cockpit which sees unemployed pilot Valle impersonating his sister to land a job as a female flight captain, but professional and romantic complications soon arise.

For TV this week we have a few new shows including the Icelandic series The Valhalla Murders. In this limited series, an Oslo detective with a painful past returns to his native Iceland to help a dedicated cop hunt a serial killer with a link to a mysterious photo. Growing up and other problems is a Spanish comedy series that follows a 30-something woman without a steady partner or income who samples stability when her pregnant best friend asks her to be the godmother of her child. And finally for TV this week we have a new Netflix reality series Buried by the Bernards which follows a big-hearted, but bickering, family as they run their budget-friendly funeral home.

True crime fans may be interested in Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel – a new series by the team behind “The Ted Bundy Tapes”. The Cecil Hotel is already notorius with lots of links to organised crime, but it grows in infamy when guest Elisa Lam vanishes.

For kids and families this week we have a number of additions. First up is the third and final “To All The Boys” with To All The Boys: Always And Forever where Lara Jean returns from a family trip to Korea and considers her future at college but will that be with or without Peter? DC animation Teen Titans Go! To the Movies is a great satire of the super hero genre and sees the Teen Titans, left out of the film craze, pitching their own movie. In the Swedish film Superbror a boy wishes his younger brother was cooler and his wish comes true thanks to a Super Trip Remote from outer space! Xico’s Journey is a musical, family adventure about a girl, a dog and her best pal set out to save a mountain from a gold-hungry corporation. And finally for the younger viewers we have seasons 1 and 2 of the CBeebies series Octonauts.
