The Best New Additions on Netflix UK This Week (16th April 2021)

Here we will give you our top picks as well as a full list of everything added to Netflix in the UK in the last week. So here are our top picks from this week’s additions on Netflix UK:

For films this week we have Jiu Jitsu where every six years, an ancient order of jiu-jitsu fighters join forces to battle a vicious race of alien invaders. But when a celebrated war hero goes down in defeat, the fate of the planet and mankind hangs in the balance. In Only Mine after being tormented and left for dead by a scorned lover, a woman finds the strength within herself to recover and retaliate against her abuser. Love and Monsters is set in a monster-infested world, where Joel learns his girlfriend is just 85 miles away. To make the dangerous journey, Joel discovers his inner hero to be with the girl of his dreams. In Doctor Bello a troubled doctor sets out to save the life of a miracle worker who cured his cancer patient using an unprecedented and mysterious remedy. In A Star Is Born a musician helps a young singer find fame as age and alcoholism send his own career into a downward spiral.

For TV this week on Netflix UK we have In the Australian comedy Why Are You Like This best friends Penny and Mia set out to right all that’s wrong with the world, blissfully ignorant of how many people they torment along the way. In Dad Stop Embarrassing Me! a single dad and cosmetics brand owner figures out fatherhood on the fly when his strong-minded teen daughter moves in with him. In Dad Stop Embarrassing Me – The Afterparty Jamie Foxx, David Alan Grier and more of the cast of the family comedy discuss the show, humiliating family moments, bad BBQ dishes and sitcom openings. There will be spoilers so don’t watch this until after watching the main show. Also added this week were seasons 3 and 4 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills a reality series that follows some of the most affluent women in the country as they enjoy the lavish lifestyle that only Beverly Hills can provide. Finally for TV we have The Circle USA season 2, where Players start off isolated in an apartment, and with their online interactions as their only means of any communication. The players use a social media platform called “The Circle”, 4 new episodes will be added each Wednesday with the final arriving on May 5th.

For those who like to watch documentaries we have Dark City Beneath the Beat a musical documentary which reimagines the narrative of Baltimore, a city rising above social and economic turmoil to develop a vibrant and close-knit community for the arts through its homegrown sound, Baltimore club music. In Why Did You Kill Me? the line between justice and revenge blurs when a devastated family uses social media to track down the people who killed 24-year-old Crystal Theobald. In My Love: Six Stories of True Love six longtime couples in different parts of the world share their decades-long love in these tender portraits filmed over the course of one year.

First up for children and families this week is the film Chestnut: Hero of Central Park where two sisters at an orphanage find a puppy and hide it. When they are adopted by a couple at Central Park, they bring it secretly with them. Even in a big apartment, it’s a problem hiding and feeding a growing Great Dane. In the animated film Arlo the Alligator Boy to find the father he never knew, optimistic Arlo leaves his swampy Southern home for New York City, making friends along the way. A musical adventure. Also aded were season 4 of Fast & Furious Spy Racers and season 3 of Mighty Express.
