The Best New Additions on Netflix UK This Week (23th October 2020)

If you want to know what to watch this weekend then we’re here to give you the lowdown on this week’s biggest and best film, TV and documentary additions on Netflix UK. Here we will give you our top picks as well as a full list of everything added to Netflix in the UK in the last week. So here are our top picks from this week’s additions on Netflix UK:

The most popular film added to Netflix UK this week has been Game Night which sees a weekly game night with friends take a twisted turn when a murder-mystery party that becomes all too real.  Apollo 13 is a dramatisation of the real life events of a space mission in 1970, which almost went tragically wrong. In the science fiction film Ready Player One the creator of a virtual reality called the OASIS dies, and makes a posthumous challenge to all OASIS users to find his Easter Egg, which will give the finder his fortune and control of his world. In the Norwegian horror film Cadaver a peculiar hotel dinner show draws crowds during a postapocalyptic famine, but one family soon discovers they’ll pay much more than the price of admission. Finally for films this week we have Rebecca which sees a young newlywed move to her husband’s imposing estate, where she must contend with his sinister housekeeper and the haunting shadow of his late wife. Other top additions include the four Bourne films The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy, The Bourne Ultimatum and The Bourne Legacy as well as the somewhat timely Doomsday about a viral pandemic in Britain…

For TV this week we have the German TV show Barbarians where a Roman officer’s conflicted allegiances to both the mighty empire that raised him and his own tribal people lead to an epic historical clash. The Queen’s Gambit which is adapted from a book of the same name, which follows the life of an orphan who is a chess prodigy. The Korean TV show Doctor John follows a pain management doctor as the tries to discover the cause of his patients mysterious pain. Also added this week were the second seasons of The Alienist, Dr. Romantic [Nangmandakteo Kimsaboo] and Enemigo íntimo along with season 3 of My Next Guest Needs No Introduction With David Letterman and season 5 of You Me Her.

There are a couple of documentaries that get a mention this week Move follows the dancers and choreographers who are shaping the art of movement around the world. Bending the Arc follows a group of ambitious advocates whose mission to save lives in Haiti turns into a global fight for health care and justice. Brave Blue World: Racing to Solve Our Water Crisis paints an optimistic picture of how humanity is adopting new technologies and innovations to re-think how water is managed. In Heritages after realising his ancestors have been fleeing wars for five generations Lebanese film director Philippe Aractingi traces his roots and analyzes key moments of the nation’s history. Panoptic dissects Lebanon’s present-day paradoxes stemming from years of conflict as the director attempts to reconcile with her nation’s past. In Whispers a Lebanese poet takes a cross-country road trip, looking for glimmers of hope through nostalgic memories and verse, after her home is devastated by war. Also added this week was Unsolved Mysteries Volume 2 where more unsolved mysteries (who would have guessed?) are explored in the hope to find out what really happened.

For kids and family this week we have a good selection of new additions. For films we have Mr Bean’s Holiday which sees the hapless Mr. Bean take a vacation on the French Riviera, where he becomes ensnared in an accidental kidnapping and a case of mistaken identity. In Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang Nanny McPhee arrives to help a harried young mother who is trying to run the family farm while her husband is away at war, though she uses her magic to teach the woman’s children and their two spoiled cousins five new lessons. We also have The Magic School Bus Rides Again The Frizz Connection where lightning splits the Magic School Bus into three pieces, before scattering the class across the globe with different versions of Ms. Frizzle aboard each bus!
