The Best New Additions on Netflix UK This Week (26th February 2021)

If you want to know what to watch this weekend then we’re here to give you the lowdown on this week’s biggest and best film, TV and documentary additions on Netflix UK. Here we will give you our top picks as well as a full list of everything added to Netflix in the UK in the last week. So here are our top picks from this week’s additions on Netflix UK:

This week’s top film addition is Capone a biographical drama that tells the story of 47-year old Al Capone: after 10 years in prison, he starts suffering from dementia and comes to be haunted by his violent past. Detroit is a fact-based drama set during the 1967 Detroit riots in which a group of rogue police officers respond to a complaint with retribution rather than justice on their minds. Blue, Painful, Fragile is a Japanese thriller which sees university students Kaede and Hisano form a club to change the world but when Hisano vanishes, Kaede throws himself into bringing the club back to its idealistic roots. In this true to life film set at the beginning of World War 2 A Call to Spy sees Britain becoming desperate, so Churchill orders his new spy agency – SOE – to recruit and train women as spies. Finally for films this week we have What Men Want where a woman is boxed out by the male sports agents in her profession, but gains an unexpected edge over them when she develops the ability to hear men’s thoughts.

Throughout February and March there will be nearly 200 Scandinavian films added to Netflix UK – here are some of the highlights of the most recent drop. First up we have Det største i verden is based upon Bjørnstjerne Bjørnsons famous 1968-novel “The Fisher Girl”, and sees Petra driven away by a raging mob after getting engaged to 3 bachelors in her 1800’s home town. Kunsten å tenke negativt Is a Norwegian black comedy, where a bitter paraplegic declares all-out war on an uber-positive National Health psychologist sent to his house to help. Svein og rotta og UFO-mysteriet when he becomes certain something sinister is afoot at his grandmothers care home, Svein, Halvorsen and their pals investigate and find that aliens are after the wisdom of the seniors. In the comedy Ledsaget Udgang John gets accompanied parole from prison, to attend his son’s wedding. He’s planned his escape, but nothing goes according to plan. In the Swedish comedy Livet är en schlager Mona has become totally obsessed with the Melodi Grand Prix and even names her children after former stars. One day, she gets an opportunity to join.

For TV this week we have a few new shows including the reality TV series Canine Intervention which follows renowned Oakland dog trainer, Jas Leverette, as he runs one of the top dog training facilities in California. Fate: The Winx Saga – The Afterparty sees stars of the fiery hit discuss the show’s magic, play trivia and chow down on hot wings. Then, Taylor Tomlinson shares how she would use fairy powers. In the TV comedy Ginny & Georgia free-spirited Georgia and her two kids, Ginny and Austin, move north in search of a fresh start but find that the road to new beginnings can be bumpy. In Ginny & Georgia – The Afterparty cast members of the hit Netflix show join the hosts to unpack the drama of Season 1, and Cristela Alonzo offers tips for being the new kid at school. In the anime series High-Rise Invasion high schooler Yuri finds herself atop a skyscraper in a strange world, where she must survive against masked assailants bent on killing their prey. Also added this week was Ash vs. Evil Dead season 3 – the show’s final season.

For documentary fans this week we have Made You Look: A True Story About Fake Art an American crime documentary about the largest art fraud in American history set in the super rich, super obsessed and super fast art world of New York. Pelé looks back at the extraordinary 12-year period in which Pelé, the only man to win three World Cup titles, went from young superstar in 1958 to national hero in 1970; a radical yet turbulent era in Brazil’s history. Wave of Cinema: Surat dari Timur features a mix of film footage and special performances, this virtual concert honours the memory and music of revered Indonesian singer Glenn Fredly. In Age of Samurai: Battle for Japan dynamic reenactments and expert commentaries bring to life the tumultuous history and power struggles of a warring 16th-century feudal Japan.

For kids and families this week we have the animated adventure film Bigfoot Family when bigfoot goes missing, his shy but tech-savvy teen son must take on an evil CEO to save his family and a wildlife preserve. Also added was the Norwegian family film Olsenbanden jr. På Cirkus  which sees Sigvald Pettersen conjure up a plan to take over a traveling circus, so it’s up to Egon and the rest of the Olsen gang to come to the rescue.
