If you want to know what to watch this weekend then we’re here to give you the lowdown on this week’s biggest and best film, TV and documentary additions on Netflix UK. Here we will give you our top picks as well as a full list of everything added to Netflix in the UK in the last week. So here are our top picks from this week’s additions on Netflix UK:
As we reach the end of April there aren’t as many additions to tell you about, however that doesn’t mean there isn’t anything worth watching! A popular film this week tells the semi-fictional story of horror/mystery write Shirley Jackson. SHIRLEY tells the story of the novelist and her professor husband who develop a strange and twisted relationship with a young couple while writing her second novel, ‘Hangasman’. Dinner With Friends (aka Friendsgiving) is a late night comedy where a group of friends meet up for a quiet dinner but after a number of uninvited guests arrive, it turns into a chaotic night of illicit activity and compromising situations.
In the biopic Rocketman, pop star Elton John looks back at his humble origins, timeless songs and heady moments of inspiration and excess. The supernatural horror Things Heard & Seen, a young woman discovers that both her husband and their new home harbor sinister secrets after they leave Manhattan for small-town life. Finally for films we have the animated family-adventure The Mitchells vs. The Machines. When the Mitchells head out on a cross-country road trip their adventure gets a sudden ending as a robot apocalypse threatens the world. Now they must battle to save the whole human race.
The most popular TV addition this week has been the new Netflix anime series Yasuke. The series features the first African Samurai, Yasuke – but while his name is part of Japanese history, the series is set in an alternate universe where he must return to his life of sword-fighting and violence in order to protect a mysterious girl from dark forces. Turkish thriller Fatma follows a house cleaner who embarks on a murderous streak as she searches for her missing husband. This week also sees the addition of British crime drama Get Even – set in a private school, four classmates secretly work together to expose a string of injustices.
A new reality TV show follows the Pet Stars as they recruit new pets to be used in advertisements, films and on Instagram. Finally for TV we have the documentary series Headspace Guide to Sleep which aims to give tips and advice on how to get a better night’s sleep.
