If you want to know what to watch this weekend then we’re here to give you the lowdown on this week’s biggest and best film, TV and documentary additions on Netflix UK. Here we will give you our top picks as well as a full list of everything added to Netflix in the UK in the last week. So here are our top picks from this week’s additions on Netflix UK:
It’s been a fairly quiet week this week with just over 20 new additions but there’s still a good selection to choose from. The most popular film addition this week was the comedy Tag. In this dark comedy a group of men continue their annual game of no-holds-barred tag which they have been playing since childhood. In the period drama All Is True William Shakespeare heads back to Stratford-upon-Avon after his Globe Theatre burns to the ground and finally gets back to his long-neglected family. Pieces of a Woman is an emotional drama about the devastating effects of a home birth that ends in unfathomable tragedy.
Set in the 1960, I Am Woman follows Australian singer Helen Reddy as she struggles with misogyny in the music business – that is until she records an anthem for the women’s movement. And, finally for films, we have the Norwegian comedy Asphalt Burning where aspiring race driver Roy has to win back his runaway bride at the iconic Nürburgring track in Germany.
For TV this week we have thee BBC comedy/drama Back to Life which sees a woman return to her home town after 18 years in prison and tries to reconnect with the community. In the French crime series Lupin we see a thief who sets out to avenge his father for an injustice inflicted by a wealthy family. We also have Part 2 of anime series The Idhun Chronicles as well as weekly episodes of season 13 of RuPaul’s Drag Race. A new ‘after show’, The Netflix Afterparty, has also been added where each week David Spade and co-hosts London Hughes and Fortune Feimster interview a number of cast members from the latest and greatest Netflix films and series.
For documentaries this week we have History of Swear Words a fun and educational show in which our host, Nicolas Cage, looks into the history and impact of the most notorious English swear words. Surviving Death delves into our understanding of the afterlife using both personal stories and modern research. In Pretend It’s a City humourist Fran Lebowitz sits down with Martin Scorsese to discuss all things New York. We also have a short documentary about Creating The Queen’s Gambit.
For the younger viewers we have a new Original series Gabby’s Dollhouse which sees cute cats, quirky crafts and colorful magic in a series of animated adventures. We also have season 2 of animated series Polly Pocket.
