“The Get Down” has been cancelled by Netflix after just one season which has to make you wonder whether the spiralling costs of season one were to blame. Initially budgeted at around $120m for the full 12 episodes but this was rumoured to have ended up being nearer $200m making it one of the most expensive TV series ever made.
Regardless of the reasons, there won’t be a 2nd season so if the roots of New York hip-hop is your thing then you’ll have to make do with just having one season – but it’s a Netflix Original so at least it will always be available!

It was a rubbish show anyway. Couldn’t even get past season one.
When is #Battlestargalactica coming back?
Terry Fuller oh 🙁
Da faq?
We’ll never know what happened to books etc
Never watched it. Never interested me.
Honestly, I’d never heard of it until today.
It would have done well late 90s.
Or just getting rid of the crap series
Never heard of it but they need to pick up grimm
Grimm is on there. Just watched season 5! Hopefully not long to wait for the last session
Yea I’m watching it i mean because it has been cancelled after season 6 Netflix should pick it up as their own like they have with a couple of others
It was one of the best shows ever!
They need to bring series 2 of The Expanse… still no word.
its out. just not on netflix
It’s out in America on American Sci Fi channel.
Not in the UK.
I don’t pirate.
I loved this show
Bugger. Season 1 was cool.
Well that sucks.
Unfortunately, Netflix doesn’t post ratings. Maybe it didn’t have a big enough audience to justify the expensive production costs. We watched a few episodes, but it didn’t “grab” us. Then we forgot about the show altogether. Same thing with the Lemony Snicket series. Watched 4 episodes and just got bored with it. Two different types of shows, but for us, neither were “binge worthy”. We love Bloodline, but this coming 3rd season will be the last.
Yeah! I didn’t care for it either.
Interesting!
Laura Lee well I’m devo
I kinda thought it was over anyway with the way it ended
If it cost too much and they weren’t getting a return in terms of viewership then it make sense to cancel it.

Just when it was getting so good!
