The TV adaptation of the MillarWorld/Netflix comic series “The Magic Order” is no longer going ahead as planned. The series, which was announced in May 2019, was in early pre-production in Prague with a view to starting in 2021 – casting had not taken place and the scripts were still being written. Deadline have stated that “the series as currently envisioned won’t move forward but the streamer hopes to revisit The Magic Order as a TV series in the future”. The size of the project as well as the current pandemic were contributing factors, although apparently not the main one.
James Wan (“Aquaman”) and Lindsey Beer (“Chaos Walking”, “Sierra Burgess is a Loser”) were going to be executive producing the show which follows five magicians and their families as they try to protect the world while they are being killed off one-by-one. Wan was set to direct the first episode with Beer serving as write/showrunner for the series.
More issues of the comic book series are still in the works.
