The Witcher: Release Dates, Episodes and Everything We Know So Far

It’s been almost a year since The Witcher series, based on Andrzej Sapkowski’s series of fantasy/horror novels, was announced and just a few months since the pilot script had been finished. So when are we likely to see the show on our screens?

Screenwriter Lauren S. Hissrich has posted on twitter to confirm that the series will be made up of 8 episodes and is likely to air around 2020. She has also stated that extra writers are coming on board and that the other 7 episodes will be written once casting has begun. The show will be filmed in and around Poland.

      1. If they are 45 minute episodes that means 6 hours of screen time. The equivalent of more than three movies. They may be aiming for movie quality so three years (or as little as 2 years 7 months if it comes in January) seems like a reasonable time. Especially when they still need to write it.

As both DC and Universal have recently proved, it is better to promise less and deliver more when timetabling your releases. Telling the world your project will be ready in five months could lead to very expensive moustache-related mistakes.

It is also healthier for your creatives if you don’t stress them too much.
