This Week’s New Releases on Netflix UK (16th March 2018)

Another week has passed and, in case you missed our social media feeds, we’re here to give you the run down on this week’s additions just in time for your weekend binge sessions. Here we will give you our top picks as well as a full list of everything added to the streaming service in the last week. So here are our top pics from this week’s additions on Netflix UK:

There has been a great mixture of new content this week on Netflix UK and we’ll start with the biggest hitter that’s a Netflix Original outside of America. Annihilation is a sci-fi horror film starring Natalie Portman as biologist Lena who joins an expedition to find her husband in a mysterious region sealed off by the U.S. government. Paramount weren’t sure about the film and it only got a released theatrically in the USA before being sold to Netflix. The reviews are good and it looks like Netflix struck gold with this one – read our review here.

The second movie pick this week is the classic Stephen King flick Christine directed by John Carpenter. The film sees a geeky student restoring a classic 1958 Plymouth Fury but the car starts to take on an evil mind of its own…

A couple of great documentaries have been added this week. First is Wild Wild Country which documents the Rajneesh cult that built a utopian city in the Oregon desert and also carried out the first bioterror attack in America. The second is Take Your Pills which looks into the stimulant drug Adderall, normally used to treat the symptoms of ADHD, and how students, athletes, coders and more use it to do more and to achieve more. The documentary asks “but at what cost?”.

Ricky Gervais, love him or hate him, has a new stand-up special on Netflix this week with his show Ricky Gervais: Humanity. Korean comedian Yoo Byung-jae also has a brand new special: Yoo Byung Jae: Too Much Information – don’t worry, there are English subtitles.

Anime fans will be pleased with a couple of great new additions with the series Children of the Whales and the return of 2011’s STEINS;GATE.

For the kids and family additions there is the live action Disney remake of The Jungle Book and a Netflix Original remake of the classic 70’s movie about the loveable dog Benji. Seasons 1 and 2 of The Garfield Show have been added and there’s also a new interactive kids show Stretch Armstrong: The Breakout which follows on from the Netflix Original series.
