This Week’s New Releases on Netflix UK (18th May 2018)

Another week has passed and, in case you missed our social media feeds, we’re here to give you the run down on this week’s additions just in time for your weekend binge sessions. Here we will give you our top picks as well as a full list of everything added to the streaming service in the last week. So here are our top picks from this week’s additions on Netflix UK:

The most popular addition this week has been Lupin the 3rd: The Castle of Cagliostro: Special Edition. This Japanese, animated classic from 1979 sees a thief and his gang, along with a policeman, try to free a princess from an evil count in order to find out about the treasure that she holds the key to.

Another popular addition this week is The Social Network – a story on the origins of Facebook directed by David Fincher. The highly-praised film is based on the book  “The Accidental Billionaires: The Founding of Facebook, a Tale of Sex, Money, Genius and Betrayal” and gives a good insight into the founding of Facebook. What I should point out is that it is not a documentary – it’s a movie based on one person’s view of events. It’s definitely worth a watch though as it’s a great film.

Lots of documentary series have been added this week including: Doomsday PreppersDisaster EarthWild Australia and Top 10 Secrets and Mysteries.

There have also been a number of great TV shows added and updated this week. The most obvious one being season 2 of 13 Reasons Why which follows on directly from season one with the students heading to court about the death of Hannah. BBC series Asian Provocateur sees comedian Romesh Ranganathan heading to Sri Lanka to connect to his ancestral roots – season 2 has been added this week.

Other additions this week worth mentioning are and the British dark comedy I Am Not a Witch, the 2004 version of Marvel’s The Punisher and the Netflix Original zombie flick Cargo starring Martin Freeman.

For all the Netflix Originals added today you can read our separate post.
