This Week’s New Releases on Netflix UK (19th April 2019)

Another week has passed and, in case you missed our social media feeds, we’re here to give you the run down on this week’s additions just in time for your weekend binge sessions. Here we will give you our top picks as well as a full list of everything added to the streaming service in the last week. So here are our top picks from this week’s additions on Netflix UK:

For those of you looking for some films to watch over the Easter weekend we have the 80’s crime comedy Twins, which stars Danny DeVito and Arnold Schwarzenegger, as an unlikely set of twins who were separated at birth. Also added this week was American Gangster a partly bio-graphical film about Harlem drug lord Frank Lucas. For something a little more relaxing we have Café Society, which is set in the 1930s, where, a young New Yorker moves to Hollywood, and falls head over heels for the radiant secretary of his hot-shot uncle. American Pie, and American Reunion, have been added this week which now means that all four of the original American Pie films are available on Netflix UK. Finally for films this week, we’ve had the first three Jurassic Park films added Jurassic Park, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, and Jurassic Park III which are great for watching with slightly older kids.

The bingeworthy TV that has been added this week includes season two of the hilarious BBC comedy Upstart Crow, history and absurdity collide in the comedy about an upstart writer named William Shakespeare and his less-than-supportive family. Or watch Australian comedian Chris Lilley star in Lunatics a mockumentary about the peculiar lives of six eccentric, and sometimes obscene misfits who march to their own beat. Finally for TV this week we have season two of the Netflix Original Brazilian comedy Samantha!, which sees a child star from the 80’s come up with hilarious harebrained schemes to launch herself back into the spotlight.

If it’s documentaries you’re after we have HOMECOMING: A film by Beyoncé, an intimate, in-depth look at Beyoncé’s celebrated 2018 Coachella performance which reveals the emotional road from creative concept to cultural movement. In Generation Iron 3 watch as bodybuilders come together from around the world to compete in the Mr. Olympia competition and try to achieve their goals of physical perfection. The Creative Brain sees neuroscientist David Eagleman tap into the creative process of various innovators while exploring brain-bending, risk-taking ways to spark creativity. Finally for documentaries if you like TED talks you might be interested in seeing Brené Brown discuss what it takes to choose courage over comfort in a culture defined by scarcity, fear and uncertainty, in Brené Brown: The Call to Courage.

It has been a good week for the younger fans of Netflix this week with the additions of  Rilakkuma and Kaoru, which tells stories of Kaoru and her lazy roomate Rilakkuma, a fuzzy teddy bear. Pre-school animations from Korea Grami’s Circus Show, Pororo – The Little Penguin, and Tayo the Little Bus, have been added this week and although they are produced in Korea they are all English language programmes. In No Good Nick, a family finds their lives turned upside down when a teenage con artist shows up on their doorstep, claiming she’s a distant relative. Also added this week were the kids films Super Monsters Furever Friends, where on the first night of spring, the Super Monsters gather for food, fun and games in the park, and get to meet their adorable new pets. And Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax, in this adaptation of the Dr. Seuss classic, the forest-dwelling Lorax has to stop the short-sighted Once-ler from ruining the environment for profit.
