The most popular film addition this week is Bong Joon Ho’s sci-fi thriller Snowpiercer which, incidentally, never got an official theatrical or home release in the UK. The film sees Earth’s remaining inhabitants being confined to a single train circling the globe however, revolution brews among the class-divided cars. Another popular sci-fi addition is the Chinese, record-breaking film The Wandering Earth which follows a handful of humans trying to save the Earth from it’s collision with Jupiter. Teen film The Maze Runner has made a welcome return to Netflix UK this week – set in a post-apocalyptic future, a group of teenagers are trapped in a maze that they must escape in order to survive.

Other film additions on Netflix UK this week include The Great Gatsby – based on the classic novel of the same name; the romantic comedy film Friends with Benefits; crime drama The Infiltrator which follows an undercover agent in the criminal underworld of Colombia, ruled by Pablo Escobar; and Pink Panther film A Shot in the Dark.

There are also two new anime series with part 2 of the violent action show BAKI and a new anime series based on the popular game Ingress: The Animation.

For TV we have the 5th and final season of iZombie with new episodes added every Friday after they air in America. The show follows a mystery-solving zombie who works at a morgue feeding on cadaver’s brains. There are a number of other new series too including Dead to Me – a new comedy/drama series which sees a recently widowed woman looking for the driver that killed her husband; and Flinch – a new game show where contestants are subject to various things and must try not to flinch.
