Trailer Released for True-Crime Documentary “Girl in the Picture” About a 30-Year Old Mystery

Netflix has released the trailer and details for a new true-crime documentary film about the story of Sharon Marshall. “Girl in the Picture” will arrive on July 6th and tells the story of Sharon as she goes from being an ambitious teenager with a scholarship to Georgia Tech to a woman with a 2-year-old son, forced by her abusive husband to work as a stripper. Her eventual tragic murder leads to an investigation of her true identity and the federal fugitive who happened to be at the center of it all. Investigative journalist Matt Birkbeck, who first wrote about this saga in his bestselling novels “A Beautiful Child” and “Finding Sharon”, is the film’s executive producer.

Netflix will also be releasing a weekly podcast on their “You Can’t Make This Up” stream as a companion to the film with the first two episodes arriving on June 29th – but the streamer has warned not to listen to episode 3 until you’ve seen the film as that’s when the spoilers will begin!
