We Need Your Help with Expiry Dates!

It is with great sadness that we have to announce that we won’t be able to source the expiry dates for movies and shows any longer. These were sourced from a third party and due to some changes on Netflix’s servers they can no longer get them. As such I am working on a way to ‘crowd source’ the expiry dates but it will need you all to help out where you can.

The plan will be for an area on the website to allow users to easily add any expiry dates that you see on your My List page or elsewhere online so that it can be shared with everyone. It will take a while for this to be set up and rolled out across the UK, USA, Australia and Canada sites. In the meantime feel free to tweet us and we’ll retweet them for everyone.

Again, apologies in advance for removals without prior warning but there’s not a lot else we can do at the moment…

Note: expiry dates are still available for Netflix USA.

  1. I wonder if it’s a deliberate policy to try and force binge-watching?

I’ve looked at ‘My List’ on 4 devices – the Netflix website, my Smart TV, the Android app, and my Roku stick – and not a single one shows any form of expiry date.

  2. You only get 1 weeks notice with films and 1 months notice with tv shows. The dates don’t appear before then. On my iPad app I have to click on each item in my list to see whether it has an expiry date listed or not. When I used to use it on my laptop when I was on the list page anything expiring would have a date next to it so was easier to spot. Don’t know how they’re displayed on other versions of Netflix xxx
