What was New on Netflix UK This Week? (12th October 2018)

Another week has passed and, in case you missed our social media feeds, we’re here to give you the run down on this week’s additions just in time for your weekend binge sessions. Here we will give you our top picks as well as a full list of everything added to the streaming service in the last week. So here are our top picks from this week’s additions on Netflix UK:

According to our social media followers the most popular additions this week have been The Girl on the Train, the story of a voyeuristic divorcee who observes an idyllic couple from afar witnesses a shocking scene that becomes the centre of a missing persons mystery. Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, a gripping thriller about Cold War espionage which follows an English spy as he returns to MI-6 under suspicion that he’s become a Soviet operative. The Haunting of Hill House, a new horror series from Mike Flanagan, which flashes between past and present, as a fractured family confronts haunting memories of their old home and the terrifying events that drove them from it. 22 July dramatises the aftermath of the terror attacks which took place in Norway on 22nd July 2011.

This week has seen the complete series of Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight saga added to Netflix UK. The films follow the lives of Bella Swan, Edward Cullen, and Jacob Black who are not who they seem to be. Based on the books of the same name the watch order is TwilightThe Twilight Saga: New MoonThe Twilight Saga: EclipseThe Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn: Part 1, and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn: Part 2. As it’s October Netflix is continuing to add to it’s horror movie catalogue with the arrival of Saw: The Final Chapter in which, Insane cruelty is the calling card of the Jigsaw killer, whose twisted spirit and terrifying human traps are recalled in flashbacks.

Whilst some may say that it’s unfortunate timing with the current scandal surrounding the soccer superstar the documentary Ronaldo has started streaming again this week and offers a portrait of his career and personal life, offering a glimpse of how he handles stardom. Feminists: What Were They Thinking? revisits 1970s photos of women that captured a feminist awakening, this film explores those women’s lives and examines the continued need for change. ReMastered: Who Shot the Sheriff investigates who was responsible for the failed 1976 assassination attempt on reggae icon Bob Marley.

For those of you who like foreign language programmes and films we have Errementari: The Blacksmith and the Devil, a Basque language science fiction fantasy film based on Basque folklore. Ordinary Heroes, is an Italian crime drama series which gives an intimate look at four engaged citizens whose courage, sense of civic duty and ultimate sacrifice helped to transform Italian society. Kuntilanak is an Indonesian horror in which five youngsters discover that an antique mirror found in their orphanage is home to an evil ghost who kidnaps children and imprisons them inside it. finally for this week we have the Malay drama Pulang in which Thom tells her grandson about his grandfather, a sailor who left 61 years ago to seek his fortune, and asks him to find out what happened to her spouse.
