What was New on Netflix UK This Week? (16th November 2018)

Another week has passed and, in case you missed our social media feeds, we’re here to give you the run down on this week’s additions just in time for your weekend binge sessions. Here we will give you our top picks as well as a full list of everything added to the streaming service in the last week. So here are our top picks from this week’s additions on Netflix UK:

Sci-fi leads the way this week with the some of the most popular additions on Netflix UK this week. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is set just before the events of Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope and tells the story of how the  Rebellion manage to steal the plans for the Death Star. Another popular sci-fi film this week is Arrival where a linguist has to find a way to communicate with aliens that have landed on Earth in order to ensure the safety of mankind. And the last of the sci-fi we’ll mention this week is Limitless where a special pill can allow people to access 100% of their brain power – this brings great success but also brings you into a dangerous new world.

This week sees a few new Christmas films for those who are already getting in the festive spirit. First up is a new Netflix Original The Princess Switch where a baker and a princess realise they look the same and hatch a Christmastime plan to trade places. Christmas Wedding Planner follows a wedding planner whose world is turned upside down when a handsome private investigator is hired to disrupt one of her biggest jobs. Jack Frost is a family film that sees a father get another chance at family time when he’s reincarnated as a snowman the Christmas after his tragic death.

Other movie additions worthy of a mention this week include the sports drama Coach Carter, which also touches on social issues; supernatural thriller Red Riding Hood; the horror/slasher film Sinister; and The Coen Brothers’ western epic The Ballad of Buster Scruggs.

For TV we have the new reboot from DreamWorks Animation of She-Ra and the Princesses of Power which follows Adora as she finds a magic sword and leads a rebellion to save her land of Etheria. Season 2 of Channel 4’s comedy series The Windsors was added this week and takes a comedic look at the life of the Royal Family. Narcos: Mexico is a new series, separate from the original Narcos, that follows the Mexican drug cartel. And, finally for TV, we have the new Netflix Original The Kominsky Method starring Michael Douglas that follows two former actors as they navigate the ups and downs of getting older.

Canine lovers will also want to check out the new Netflix documentary series Dogs which tells the story of the emotional bonds that form between dogs and their caregivers, no matter the circumstances.
