What was New on Netflix UK This Week? (23rd November 2018)

Another week has passed and, in case you missed our social media feeds, we’re here to give you the run down on this week’s additions just in time for your weekend binge sessions. Here we will give you our top picks as well as a full list of everything added to the streaming service in the last week. So here are our top picks from this week’s additions on Netflix UK:

As usual, as we hit the back end of the month, things go a little bit quieter with regards to new additions to Netflix however we’ve still got a few things to tell you about. As we approach Christmas we have a couple of new festive family films available – the first being a new Netflix film The Christmas Chronicles starring Kurt Russel as a savvy, straight-talking Santa. The second Christmas film this week is Puppy Star Christmas where some talking pups head to the North Pole to try and save the Christmas spirit.

Other films added this week include the sci-fi drama Passengers starring Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence – Pratt stars as a passenger on a spaceship who wakes up decades early from his hibernation and ends up waking a fellow passenger to pass the years. Al Pacino stars in the crime thriller Hangman which follows a team on the hunt for a serial killer that bases his murders on the game of hangman. If you like things a bit calmer then you may be interested in the biographical drama The Man Who Knew Infinity – set in Cambridge before World War I,  Indian math prodigy Srinivasa Ramanujan tries to navigate the labyrinth of academia and racial prejudice. If you like foreign horror films then there have been two Indonesian horrors added this week: Target and Sabrina.

Mystery Science Theater 3000 has returned this week with ‘The Gauntlet’ – 6 more dodgy sci-fi movies with an amusing audio-commentary. The new films consist of Mac and Me, Atlantic Rim, Lords of the Deep, The Day Time Ended, Killer Fish and ATOR The Fighting Eagle.

The most popular addition this week in TV series is season 3 of The Last Kingdom which is now a Netflix Original after the BBC pulled out after season 2. This violent, historical drama is set in 872 around the time that the Vikings were invading what we now call England. Season 3 of Frontier has also been added this week – another historical drama this time set in 18th Century North America.

For those who like non-fiction TV there are a couple of gardening shows, Monty Don’s French Gardens and Monty Don’s Italian Gardens, that may give you some inspiriration as well as a brand new cooking show featuring top chefs from around the globe: The Final Table.

And, finally, if you like a bit of comedy then there are two new comedy specials this week. The first from star of ‘Community’: Donald Glover: Weirdo; and  and a Netflix special from South African comedian Trevor Noah: Son of Patricia.

Don’t forget to look at the most popular additions this week and for all the Netflix Originals added today you can read our separate post.
