Top Picks: New Films on Netflix UK for April

April is pretty huge for film additions on Netflix UK with a good number of blockbusters, classics and newer releases. First up we have the Netflix Film The Silence (12th Apr) based on the Tim Lebbon book where blind creates hunt and kill anything that even whispers. Other action films include Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (18th Apr) – the 5th in the Pirates series starring Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow; and the original Jurassic Park Trilogy (16th Apr) that tells the story genetically reproduced dinosaurs that are made into a tourist attraction – I’ll let you guess how well that ends… Battle: Los Angeles (1st Apr) and Gladiator (2nd Apr) are also worth a mention along with the great teen drama Cruel Intentions (1st Apr) and the crime film American Gangster (17th Apr).

Seth Rogen stars in the black comedy This is the End (1st Apr) which sees Rogen and friends facing the biblical apocalypse while attending a house-warming party. Netflix will also be getting Baywatch (25th Apr) – the action comedy based on the 90’s TV series. For those who prefer their comedies to be more lighthearted and romantic there are a few additions including Bridget Jones’ Diary (17th Apr) and Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason (17th Apr) where Bridget chronicles her mostly failed love life through her diary. The Perfect Date (12th Apr) is a Netflix Film that sees a highschooler create a dating app where he gets to act as a stand-in boyfriend on various dates. And, speaking of dates, there is also 50 First Dates (1st Apr) starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore.

For stand-up comedy there are a number of Netflix specials including Kevin Hart: Irresponsible (2nd) and Anthony Jeselnik: Fire in the Maternity Ward (30th Apr).

Top Picks: New TV on Netflix UK for April

TV in April is dominated by Netflix Original Series but that’s not necessarily a bad thing; for a start there is the new anime reboot of Ultraman (1st Apr) which sees the son of Ultraman taking on the mantle in order to protect the earth from a new threat. And if you enjoy anime then season 1 of anime series Fate/Zero (1st Apr) will also be arriving on Netflix UK. Zombie fans will no doubt enjoy the new Z-Nation prequel series Black Summer (11th Apr) which takes us back to the early days of the zombie apocalypse and how people dealt with the changes and their survival – from both the zombies and each other. Sticking with the horror theme part 2 of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (5th Apr) will no doubt be a popular addition. For drama fans there is season 2 of the BBC’s drama Doctor Foster (3rd Apr).

Our Planet (5th Apr) is a new natural history series that has taken years to film and produce and looks at how climate change is affecting a wide range of animals on earth; the series is narrated by Sir David Attenborough. Family comedy series No Good Nick (15th Apr) follows 13-year-old Nicole aka Nick, who infiltrates a family with the intention to get revenge on them for unknowingly ruining her life – although her plans change as she gets to know the family more. The series stars original Sabrina star Melissa Joan Hart.

And finally for TV in April there is a new interactive series You vs. Wild (10th Apr). This new show gives the viewer control of British survivalist Bear Grylls as he tackles various places around the world with you deciding his steps along the way.
